Leigh and Jeff, 2004(this news is so old it's been relegated to page 3).
OLD NewsWe're in the (chaos associated with a) new house! Above is what we do a couple of times a week: watch the sun go down into either the Pacific Ocean or the Los Angeles smog drift. We're busy and scatterbrained. Lots o' stuff to do around the house and Jeff is doing a big contract for Colorado Department of Transportation. Leigh is ramping up her plant maintenance business, Leaf It To Us. We did have Mom and Aunt Joan (Aunt Whoopee!) out in mid-October for a visit (below)
(Note from Jeff: Friday, my email dumped upon me 643 emails that were undelivered over that past year. So if you didn't get a response from me, there's a good chance I only now got your email. Sorry. I AM negligent, but that's just crazy). I'll probably update this site a bit once I return from Colorado in a few days. Ciao!). If you have comments about the page, or if you want to say "Hi!" click on the email addresses above. I'd appreciate any suggestions (too slow to load pictures, background takes to long to load, dead-end links, anything). I expect our page to be updated through many improved iterations. Enjoy and say "Hi!" Jeff's

Note from Jeff:
Click for a ! haha! a trick! it launched your email editor, with my address already filled in. Now write "Hi Jeff. I was just browsing your website" and hit Send. Thanks! First of all, my apologies for not staying in touch either with the web or via phone call or in person. Running my business is running my life. I am overwhelmed and burning out; the thought of one boss and being part of a team seems like a vacation to me (if only companies weren't so stringent on actual Vacation!). The problem with webs is the time it takes to dump and format pictures, etc. I think I will try a version of blogging: a web page with those random thoughts and little formatting. Click for Jeff's Sequential-yet-Random Thoughts page. This should be easy to keep up to day, though I doubt it will be all that interesting. Also I am starting a "Jeff's Favorites" page which probably won't get cleaned up for a while. Maybe Leigh will start one, though I doubt it, she's more likely to interact with a live person than a keyboard... |
2003 Autumn. A fun trip to Maine to watch the death
struggle of trees and taste the death struggle of lobster.
We had lots of fun. Until I get some time or Leigh learns some HTML, I don't think anything will get posted about this... |
How are the plants in your office?
Leigh saw the extraordinary effort I've been putting in over the past three years to get ordinary results (financially, anyway). With such a wonderful example of entrepreneurial success, Leigh resigned her wage slave job and is now liberated to work nights and weekends for free. A rash (!) of births and pregnancies a couple of years ago Theresa and Chris have a baby Taylor, Danny and Corrine added a Zoe to their Zachary and Anna Marie and Patrick have Sean Patrick (just a few days ago). Theresa's newest is now a year old. Momma P has just finished her radiation treatment and is doing well.

A brief note from Leigh: (3/22/02) Hello dear friends and family: While we haven't been as persistent with our communication as we would like, we think of you often and we miss you dearly. We couldn't be more thrilled about living in San Diego, our home now for nearly seven years. And what a fantastic place to call home! We love playing beach, grass and indoor volleyball with our friends several times each week, and we're always looking for more game. Mountain biking has become an exciting and challenging activity for us, as has snowboarding on the California and surrounding mountains. Surfing continues to kick our butts, but we're just certain that new boards will make all the difference this year. In fact, Jeff broke both his snow and surf boards this year, ouch! 2001 was a tremendous year of exciting travel for us. We started the year off with three fabulous weeks driving around Italy. The museums, ruins, art, food and wine were all spectacular. Milan, Venice, Florence, Rome, Pompeii, Naples, Sicily, Pointano, Pisa. Wow! Mid-year, we hit Hawaii and Alaska within the same month. Jeff was on the big island for business, so what the heck. We had always heard the manta ray dives were an awesome experience, we were not disappointed. Check out the photo on this site. Alaska just three weeks later came about from yet another deal on the internet. Upon flying into Fairbanks late in the evening, we headed down to the Kenai Peninsula while sightseeing into the early hours of morning. Twenty hours of daylight proved to be as strange as anticipated. We took a cruise around Prince William Sound, spotting whales, dolphins, seals, otters and plenty of halibut. Out to the depths and cold we headed, where glaciers were calving. We could have spent hours watching this truly majestic phenomenon. We also found ourselves in New Jersey and Virginia in late September to visit friends from home. Finally, after Leigh's lay-off in October, we hit Yellowstone National Park to take in some snow, wildlife and absolute serenity. We then headed Southeast through Moab, Utah where we enjoyed hiking and mountain biking against a backdrop of spectacular fall colors. We look forward to spending more time in this area again. Family and friends were of course visited during the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. Leigh was able to spend two full weeks with her folks in Michigan, with side trips to visit Joanna and Butch (her sister and brother-in-law) in Milwaukee, as well as some of her high school and college buds in Chicago, Valparaiso and Grand Rapids. We both visited the Martins in Orlando over Christmas with all the usual Florida activities. We are so pleased that our family and friends are happy, healthy and well. We vow to make visits with them all a more regular occurrence. Please come out for a visit, you won't be disappointed with what Sunny San Diego has to offer. |
A brief note from Jeff: Hi Yall, Sorry about the lack of correspondence, telephonically, personally, and electronically. I've been swamped (no excuse). My major goal right now is to achieve a better balance in my life (especially to be more patient). I just finished a 5 month highway design contract in Orange County (California), so I expect to be able to be better... If you have any Civil Engineering needs or interests, and if you search deep in your soul, I think you'll find that you do, check out my work website http://civilxlr8.com. For those of you who don't visualize what I do, this linked picture sums it up nicely. Check back here soon for more updates!! Expect a major update to this site very soon including:

We hit Mammoth late January (1999!!!!) for our first snowboard trip of the season. Four feet earlier in the week and a foot while we were boarding on Sunday. A nice way to start the season. I enticed Leigh into the glades. She did a better job than me of not hitting the trees. Here's Leigh with a perfect landing after an aerial 360! |
